This is to apprise the membership on the recent meeting held between the honourable Aviation Minister Mr. Saad Raffique along with Secretary Aviation Division, DG PCAA, CEO PIACL, DDG PCAA, DFO and concerned Officials with PALPA Representatives at Aviation Division, Islamabad, on 25th November, 2022.
PALPA Executive Committee (EC) is indeed grateful and honoured for the kind hearing afforded by the honourable Minister on all matters concerning our membership. PALPA EC also extends gratitude to all the participants of the meeting.
The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and in-depth discussion was held on all issues. The honourable Minister showed his deep concern on the discussed issues and passed directions to the concerned authorities for immediate resolution. PIACL management shared and supported the concerns put forward by PALPA and assured continued support for immediate resolution of all issues. PALPA EC would like to extend sincerest appreciation to the Director Flight Operations for his unequivocal and unwavering support for our mutual cause.
Following major points were discussed during the meeting:-
EASA BAN:-
DG PCAA briefed the house on the steps taken to come out of EASA ban. He hoped that EASA ban shall soon be lifted after completion of few more formalities.
PILOTS’ LICENSE ISSUE:-
DG PCAA and DDG PCAA apprised the house on the recent status of this issue. The Minister directed the concerned officials to use all possible means to get relief for the affected pilots at the earliest.
RECOGNITION OF PALPA:-
The worthy Minister assured to resolve this issue in near future.
IMPOSITION OF INCOME TAX:-
The honourable Minister showed complete understanding of unjustified and exorbitant tax imposed on the pilots and assured full support to get this issue resolved through concerned Ministries. Directions were given to concerned officials for the resolution of this issue on immediate basis.
SALARY:-
The issue was discussed in depth and after a long discussion, the honourable Minister acknowledged the low wages being paid to the PIACL Pilots. He further explained the financial crises of the airline and measures being taken to address the root causes. He committed to resolve the salary issue at top priority with improvement in financial health of the airline.
INTERNATIONAL LAYOVER ALLOWANCE:-
CEO PIACL informed the house that approval has been accorded for disbursement of outstanding international allowance.
IMPROVEMENT IN WORKING CONDITIONS:-
PALPA reps raised the issue and the honourable Minister directed PIACL Management to take all necessary steps to iron out all impediments in this regard. He also directed to ensure continuous and uninterrupted working relationship between PALPA and PIACL management.
PALPA EC, on behalf of the membership, resolves to continue working with zeal and zest and assures complete cooperation for the rebuilding process of airline. PALPA EC once again emphasises upon membership to ensure strict compliance of all state and company rules and keep flight safety paramount at all times.
PALPA EC shall keep a close coordination and liaison with PIACL Management through the Director Flight Operations for compliance of all directions and orders issued by the honourable Minister and subsequent beneficial closure of all issues.
